Impacts on Society Today

 

Although Indonesia subsequently underwent Islamization and lost the intensity in Buddhism, many of the impacts of Indianization can still be seen today. 

 

One example would be the influence of Sanskrit in Bahasa Indonesia. NUSA compiled a list of loan words from Sanskrit in Bahasa Indonesia, which has more than 41 volumes! Indeed, the language of today has been shaped by Indianization. 

 

Another example would be art. The famous Indonesian Wayang Kulit, or shadow puppetry, often showcases Indian epics or stories inspired by them. Thus, it it is indeed true that Indonesian society today would not have been the same without Indianization!
